Name: Sam Speller
Job title: Charity Partnership Manager
History: I started working in hospitality from a young age and worked in some very good kitchens. I progressed to management and set up a Charity to train vulnerable adults in trades associated with the hospitality industry. Working with Carita was the perfect chance for me to utilise my management skills with fundraising objectives.
Experience: Not only do I have a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry, but also working with charities, with strong skills in business development and marketing.
Biggest challenge: Running a successful corporate conference and gala dinner at the premises of a Charity utilising solely volunteers for staff was a real challenge professionally. Raising my two children and seeing them stride through the pressures of the new digital generation has also been a challenge.
Interesting fact: I once cycled over 500 miles from my home town of Stevenage to its twin town in Germany, Ingelheim am Rhein in aid of Help for Heroes, with just a one-man tent for shelter. It was a great experience and I would love to do a similar challenge again!
